I am currently working as a coordinator and postdoctoral researcher within the Finnish part of the European Researching Social Media and Collaborative Software Use in Emergency Situations (RESCUE) research project. The main goals in the project include developing better strategies and tools for how to use social media in crisis communication. Official key communicators as well as journalists are studied.
In addition to the RESCUE project, I’m involved in ongoing research focusing on 1) journalism and trauma, and
2) trauma history and eating disorders.
The work with my doctoral thesis "Work-related Crisis Exposure, Psychological Trauma and PTSD in News Journalists", where I studied topics such as journalists’ work during the school shootings in Finland 2007–08, was finished 2012.
At the moment I’m a full-time researcher/teacher at Åbo Akademi University, Vasa, Finland. Previous work experience includes working as a news journalist, mostly at the Finnish Broadcasting Company, YLE.
In short, I enjoy the little things in life, such as having a nice dinner, fishing, chopping firewood, hanging out with family and friends, reading, watching movies, collecting books, listening to music, and (did I already mention this?) chopping firewood.
