Research
I am currently working as a senior university lecturer and docent at the media and communication programme at Political Science with Media and Communication, Åbo Akademi University, Finland. I’m involved in research focusing on journalism and trauma, currently within projects where we investigate risk factors for psychological impairment in journalists who worked with the corona pandemic, and the terror attacks in Sweden 2017 and Norway 2011. The work with my doctoral thesis "Work-related Crisis Exposure, Psychological Trauma and PTSD in News Journalists", where I studied journalists’ work during the school shootings in Finland 2007–08, was finished 2012.
I'm also the PI of DemDialogue, a project focusing on how deliberative theory may be used to improve online discussion quality between journalists and media users (in website threads, social media debates, etc.). The project will continue until 2024.
Previous work experience includes working as Assistant Professor at the Swedish School of Social Science at University of Helsinki, and as a news journalist, mostly at the Finnish Broadcasting Company, YLE.

Personal interests
In short, I enjoy the little things in life, such as having a nice dinner, fishing, chopping firewood, hanging out with family and friends, reading, watching movies, collecting books, listening to music, and (did I already mention this?) chopping firewood.
